Halifax Airport's new Free Wifi Service
Halifax International Airport is now offering a new Wifi service that replaces the Aliant service previously offered. The new service is free.

I prefer the Aliant offering. Here's why:

When I use Google.com for normal (non-porn) use, I get this message from the free wifi service:

"Access To This Webpage Is Restricted

You are seeing this page because the webpage you are trying to access contains material that does not comply with this hotspot's Terms of Use. The reason given by the content filter is Banned combination phrase found..

If you think this is not correct, please go back and check the link or url you requested. You may have mistyped the URL of the website."

So what did I type into google to provoke such a response?
"stanfield"
"air canada"
"flights"
"halifax airport"

Pretty lame service. The aliant one wasn't so anal. Wasn't really free either.

Aliant dosn't offer it at the airport anymore? They still claim to.

As for Aliant's service, it is free if you already have Aliant High-speed service (or you know someone who does...)

Random |-|@><0R hint. Aliant's High-speed passwords are always generated as the first letter of the month the service was requested and the 7 digit phone number (except in NB). So, if you know someone's e-mail address who has Aliant Sympatico High-speed Service in NL, NS, or PEI and their phone number you can always get free WiFi at any of the Aliant Hot spots. Example, bob.smith@ns.sympatico.ca at 455 5151.

bob.smith@ns.sympatico.ca's password is most likely one of the following:
J4555151
F4555151
M4555151
A4555151
[we've already gone through an M possibility]
[we've already gone through an J possibility]
[we've already gone through an J possibility]
[we've already gone through an A possibility]
S4555151
O4555151
N4555151
D4555151

Yep, a 1/8 chance. Now, I should add, this only works if they havn't changed their password from the default ...but 90% of all Aliant users havn't.

It's a seriously stupid form of password generation, and it should be taken full advantage of for free WiFi :P
